What does Fisher think?

My thoughts are focused a little more on chapter 3 and the end of 2, rather than the birth of Jesus. I think the "child Jesus" stories are very interesting. And John the Baptist is just a fascinating person.

my questions:
1) What was the general attitude of Jews in this day and age about the Messiah? Were they all waiting like Simeon and Anna? Or had they "moved on" or "given up"? This just makes me think a lot about patience and waiting on the Lord

2) I want to talk about child Jesus and how being God/Man affected him maturing ad "growing in wisdom and favor"...that seems like an odd concept to me

3) John the Baptist...came preaching a baptism of repentance for forgiveness of sins. What was this based on... It seems to separate repentance and forgiveness from belief in Jesus, or is it just preemptive? Someone who was repentant in their baptism by John, what was the state of their soul before God...forgiven?
